There are many things that you have been aware of in the post-apocalyptic world. Raiders, mole rats, and giant mutants are just a few of the horrible things that await your journey to find your father. If you are tired of getting hit by these horrible monsters, having a follower is your solution.

Fawkes and Charon are big fans who have the potential to save your butt more than a few times. Fawkes is the best to get solo because he’s a super mutant, but he won’t be available until later. So, in preparation for Fawkes, there are a few things you need to do beforehand to get both followers.

First of all, you must retain good karma. Fawkes is a good mutant and only follows people with good karma. Next, you have to go to the History Museum and go hire Charon. To do that, go and buy the contract from him or kill any girl he asks you to kill. After it ends, play the story until you get to the part where you meet Fawkes.

I won’t spoil the game for you, but after all is said and done, you’re going to escape the Enclave. When you go out into the Wasteland, you will see Fawkes fighting people. DO NOT TALK TO HIM. He goes straight back to the Museum and rehires Charon.

After you’ve rehired Charon, go to Fawkes and he’ll join you.
