Decorative Iron Home Accents

Posted by admin

I have always been drawn to the traditional style when it comes to decorative ironsuch as the scrollwork that flows from a wall grid, or a beautiful wrought iron accent table. The durability and longevity of steel is certainly a good quality, even as it ages and wears down over time, it still retains a solid character.

cabinet hardware – An easy and common way to bring that iron theme into your home. You can find these products at your local hardware or home improvement centers, drawer pulls and decorative hinges are easy to install and come in a variety of designs and finishes. You may have an old dresser or kitchen cabinets, adding some unique hardware can give them a nice highlight. Also if you search online you can find some independent blacksmiths that create some very nice pieces.

iron wall art – The most popular type of iron decoration, it not only adds some beauty to the overall wall decoration, but also has a certain architectural feeling. Ornamental panels are a great way to accentuate space on the wall, above a bed, or in a hallway. There are also arc shaped louvers that go over door trim, I find these over door louvers go great in kitchen areas, I have a custom one, 26 inch long on mine. Depending on what your taste is, there are many attractive design styles to choose from, contemporary, traditional and modern are just a few. I think if you find an iron wall art creation that matches your interior even slightly, you can make it a beautiful addition.

Exterior Parts – Decorating the exterior of your home with an iron creation is attractive and functional. Plant stands are a great way to display your favorite flower arrangements, or perhaps a pretty decorative piece of ceramic. You want to make sure it’s strong enough to hold moderate weight, also if it’s a tile deck try to get one that is 1/4 thick tile deck, 3/8 is better. Garden stakes and sculptures are another way to decorate your garden, garden stakes can go well with your flowerbeds or next to your fountain. Sculptures can really be a patio focal point, many places to choose from, for example you can have a perennial bed, a nice iron botanical sculpture added to the center can be quite attractive. I have a 4 foot obelisk perched on the side of my front porch, it’s made of cedar with iron trim attached to the frame, with an ebony stained finial on top, blends nicely with the red mulch bed adjacent to the walkway .

Decorative iron, try it on your next home project.
