Beach house beautification for quick sales

Posted by admin

Have you ever wondered what makes some beach houses take your breath away? The strategic staging to sell any house is important; but, most beach houses do benefit from some type of staging. There are four key elements that are likely to influence buyers to buy your beach house.

Your first and foremost consideration should be given to lighting. Many people who live near a beach want to interact with nature, even within their homes. If you make a major change, it should be to replace the old windows. New windows, especially if they are also larger, will look brighter and cleaner and can make an older home look much more modern. Large windows, skylights, and open floor plans help let in natural light and create bright and airy interiors. The goal is to bring the outdoors in by capturing as much light and surrounding views as possible. Open the blinds, pull back the curtains, or remove the old window coverings entirely. Let there be no dark corners full of cobwebs, only open and bright rooms. Let there be light!

Second, consider the color. By painting the interior of your home white or off-white, the buyer’s attention will automatically be drawn to the window views. Wall or ceiling defects are more likely to go unnoticed. The white walls and trim camouflage the varying heights of the older trim and window trim, instead becoming a dramatic frame for the ocean views. Light-colored paint also makes the interior look larger and cleaner. If you’re using color, choose pale shades of colors that subtly mimic your home environment—colors of the sea and the beach that soothe and lift the spirits. If you’re replacing carpet, choose gray or beige carpet. Keep in mind that neutral tones do not offend anyone, and it is easier for the buyer to imagine their own furniture in their home.

Third, consider your interior and exterior décor. Remove all debris outside. Prune or prune any shrub or tree. Cut the branches that block the windows. Plant flowers in raised beds or pots near the driveway, on decks or patios. An ocean view is decoration enough. Keep the decorations simple. Take advantage of the natural environment by using shells, driftwood, stone or other local materials very sparingly on the exterior and throughout the house. Display furniture, throw pillows or some decorations that seem to bring nature right into the house by using pieces made of wood like bamboo or elements like stone or glass.

Lastly, think minimalist. Many people imagine a beach house as a retreat. Minimal furniture creates a feeling of freedom from clutter. Less furniture also makes rooms appear larger. You want to create an environment that invites spontaneity through simple, streamlined designs. Clear all the clutter inside the house. Buyers will quickly notice interesting features in your home, like rock fireplaces or granite countertops. Minimalist spaces create neutral places where buyers can imagine relaxing, living and enjoying life.

These changes to your home will likely create an informal and comfortable atmosphere of relaxation and peace, an atmosphere that will inspire the buyer to buy your home.
