For years I have bet on sports as a hobby, I’m sure many of you do too. I didn’t do badly, picking games, watching games, and generally having a great time doing it. I always wondered what it would take to make a real profit! How do people make a living betting on sports? I played with many different theories and systems and actually paid to follow several of the best tipsters to mine data and test theories. If any of you have ever paid for picks, he knows what that experience is like. First, you get an overly exuberant, fast-talking salesperson who makes you feel like an idiot if you don’t have 10K to fund your “investment,” then you pay anywhere from $25.00 for a selection, up to several hundred dollars a month, you misses! How can it be? How can someone get paid several hundred dollars a month for losing picks? It’s unbelievable and unbelievably stupid that basic players do it!
I have followed many of these so-called experts for years. What has become very obvious is that there are no experts who actually win 70%, 80% or even 90% of their picks as they claim. Most of them are terrible! Most of them have their phone numbers posted with “free” selections, only to give half of you to one side and half of you to the other! Are you kidding? Now they have produced 50% of you with a winner and you are ready to sign up. The other half gets the entire next month for free. Just what you always wanted! A month’s worth of free picks from someone who just lost you a ton of money! This scam is beautiful, crazy and just goes to show how incredibly desperate many sports players are for a winning pick!
What I have gathered over the years is an incredible amount of systems, ideas and knowledge about the sports betting industry and how it works versus most of the average bettors out there just trying to have fun. After all this research and a lot of time invested, I finally figured it all out! I found out how to make profit betting on sports! It has been such an eye-opening experience that I can’t wait to find thousands of people like me. Sports fans who love to bet on sports, watch sports, and if you could really put it to good use and make a profit, that would be awesome!
There are many different ways that the experts in Las Vegas take advantage of us average Joe Gamblers, and the media helps them further cheat us and take our money! Over the next year I will try to provide as much information as possible to help you better understand how to bet for profit and how to manage your money to minimize exposure and maximize profit. There are no magic formulas! It takes time and discipline, but it’s not that hard, and once you figure it out, it makes all the sense in the world.
There are very few of us who can pick winners, and I pick a lot of winners and have a winning percentage over the years. That winning percentage always made me feel good, but after I cashed in, I didn’t make much of a profit. Then I learned a better way to manage money and a better way to bet for and against streaks. There are plenty of handicappers selling chase systems that show crazy win percentages, and most of them are true, but they chase for so long that you end up betting a nasty amount of money, just to win a unit! Most of the best systems are contrarian in nature, which will sometimes make them hard to believe. However, contrarian is the only way to make a profit when betting on sports. It is imperative that you do not follow the sheep and bet on the games and teams that “everyone” is taking. That’s what bookmakers love, and that’s what makes them money. That’s when they keep stretching the line, making it harder and harder to give the points or the odds. That’s when they take advantage of the media hype and public opinion to take advantage of us because they know our tendencies. They know how we bet! They know which teams the public supports and they take advantage of the public. That sounds easy! Just bet against public opinion! That’s great, but then you’ll be in that 50-55% win area that’s fun, but not profitable.
For starters, look at the lines at the end of the NFL season. See how the ranks will rise on the teams that are hogging all the media attention! See if you can begin to identify the parallel lines drawn between media hype, public opinion, and rising betting lines! Once you start to identify those similarities, you will be taking the first step in understanding sports betting and understanding how you can make a profit.
