There are many developments currently underway for electricity. These are some of the advances that are being worked on:

Wireless Electricity: This is a very exciting idea…electricity without all the wires cluttering up your house! Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have already had success with wireless power transfer experiments. Wireless electricity isn’t too far away, according to these successful experiments. Soon, you’ll be able to say goodbye to your cords and still power your electrical appliances.

Electricity will come from cleaner sources: The energy that powers electricity will come from cleaner, renewable sources. Environmental concerns are the main reasons for switching to cleaner energy sources. In addition, there is concern about running out of the energy sources we are currently using.

More consumer control: Electric industry experts predict that in the future, your power supply will become more personalized. You’ll have control over how electricity is delivered to your home and can even avoid paying for electricity on vacation when you’re not home. It’s not known how far into the future this will happen, but more consumer control is something that experts are confident will be introduced to the electrical industry.

More electrical gadgets: More and more things run on electricity, like cars and toothbrushes. Other things like shoes, clothes or glasses can become electrical devices. Personally, I’m not quite sure how much I’d like everything to run on electricity, but some people love their gadgets.

Power will be more reliable: Advances in alternative energy solutions promise to be more reliable with fewer power outages. If more things run on electricity, then more reliable power will probably be needed. Either way, power with fewer interruptions would be a huge advance.
