Two engines power the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Posted by admin

For its 2010 models, the second year offering the CC, Volkswagen has two engines to accompany the product line. The Sport and Luxury come with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine, and the VR6 and VR6 Sport come with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine. The smaller engine generates a maximum of 200 horsepower at an engine speed of 5,100 rpm and produces high torque at the low speed of 1,700 rpm. The bore and stroke of this engine are 82.5mm and 92.8mm, respectively. This is a front-wheel drive vehicle that employs Volkswagen’s Direct Shift Box for maximum performance on the road. With this engine, the sedan has a city fuel economy rating of 21 miles per gallon (mpg) and a highway driving rating of 31 mpg. The EPA composite rating is an impressive 25 mpg. The sports car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds, while the luxury model does the same in 7.4 seconds.

The all-wheel drive Volkswagen VR6 and VR6 Sport have even more power to brag about. Coming from its small-angle (10.6°) 3.6-liter V6 engine is 280 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 265 pound-feet of torque at 2,750 rpm. Fuel economy for this engine is still pretty good: 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg compound. This motor propels the 4-wheel drive CC from zero to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds. This engine has a bore of 89mm, a stroke of 96.4mm and a compression ratio of 12:1.
