Travel Vs Vacation

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between travel and vacations? These two things seem quite similar, but I think there is a big difference. I think when someone is truly traveling, they are experiencing a whole new culture, not just living in a resort for a week. When I say experiencing a whole new culture, I mean truly experiencing the places, the sounds, the tastes of people, all the things that make a culture what it is. I think this is the true essence of travel. How much culture can a person honestly experience if he just goes somewhere for a week and hangs out in a hotel all the time? It always saddens me when I hear people talk about the wonderful vacations they took or are planning to take. It’s not that I wouldn’t take a vacation, it’s just not the same as traveling. Now don’t get me wrong, I would never turn down a free vacation, but I would rather have someone pick up the tab for me to go on a trip. I think vacation time is more of a time to relax and try to recharge the battery, while traveling can be physically tiring and exhausting. Let’s look at some of the things that make traveling so different from vacations.

For me, traveling can be an exhilarating experience, but it can also be mentally and physically exhausting. I think above all, what makes traveling so unique and amazing is the fact that you get to experience a completely different culture. I mean, is there anything more exciting than experiencing a new culture? I especially love the new people that you can meet while traveling. In most foreign countries, locals will go out of their way to be hospitable to a complete stranger. Of course, not all cultures are like this and, in fact, there are some places where you may be looked down on. Another thing that I really love about visiting a new culture is the food, of course I am a food addict so you may not like foreign foods as much as I do. While some people dislike the idea of eating something they can’t even recognize, I love the idea of being immersed in a culture through food. I mean, think about it, would America really be America without apple pie? Absolutely not! So just as America would not be America without apple pie, India would not be India without Naan. So next time you travel try some of the local foods. So aside from the unique people and unique food, there are a couple of other things that are great about travel rather than vacation.

Some people use their travel time as a kind of soul search and if that’s what you want to do, traveling is definitely a great way to do it. People have been known to travel around the world for two years trying to understand themselves better and often these people come back knowing what they want to do with their lives or at least having a better idea. Also, when you live in your backpack or suitcase with the essentials, you tend to discover what you think is really important in life. Nothing will make you realize the beauty of a sunset like not having a television. To suck you away from him

Another thing you can do while traveling abroad in foreign countries that will launch you into a culture and make you feel good about yourself is volunteering. Now there are many organizations that make you pay to volunteer abroad, and many times it is a ridiculous fee. So my advice to you is that if you want to volunteer somewhere and you are already at your destination, just ask. There are many different organizations in foreign countries, especially developing countries, that would love to have you volunteer and won’t even make you pay for it.

So now that we’ve looked at a couple of things that make royal travel so great and how you can immerse yourself in a culture, let’s see how vacations differ from travel.

To demonstrate how vacations and travel are different, I’m going to use an example of vacations in Mexico and trips in Mexico. First of all, if someone went on vacation to Mexico, they would probably go to a city full of tourists like Cancun. It’s not that I’m attacking Cancun, I’m just saying it’s likely. So this already puts you in a bad position to learn about a culture because you are probably staying at a resort that was designed to suit your needs. However, if you were traveling you would probably choose a less touristy place and would probably stay in a hostel in some type of budget accommodation. Simply staying at a hostel can put you in touch with real locals who are not alone to rip you off. Also at a resort, they will often have American food to suit their American customers. This totally destroys the concept of experiencing a new culture through food. On the other hand, if you are staying in a non-touristy part of the country, you could experience some real local food, maybe even go to a genuine Mexican restaurant. Also, if you stay at a resort, you are simply going to experience resort life and when you leave you will not even have the slightest idea what the locals live. Besides this, you are not going to learn anything about a new culture and I have to say that learning about new cultures is one of the main reasons why I love to travel. So, in general, vacations and travel share some similarities, but they are two completely different ways of experiencing a culture. In fact, when you’re on vacation, you can’t really experience what true culture is. So what would you rather do to go on vacation or travel?
