The crowd sings Avery Avery Avery!

Sean Avery fires back after being benched in Atlanta with one of his most complete games as a Ranger! He hit people, he scored penalties, he got into the skin of the players and, yes, he scored two goals.

Getting the nod for the game’s No. 1 star, Avery also helped his team move within a point of the Boston Bruins, who currently hold the No. 8 seed for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

A matchup won by the Rangers deep in the Flyers zone. Avery charged straight toward the Flyers goal and bounced off a loose puck that he brought home to tie the game at one. His second goal came from a spin that Avery originally believed was for Chris Dury, as Dury would return the puck to Avery. He walked into the zone on the boards and made a quick throw toward the Flyers’ goal that was caught by Philadelphia goaltender M. Leighton. off guard and sailed home giving Rangers a much-needed two-goal lead.

Sam Rosen shouted out to Sean Avery with a post-goal Sunday special that gave Rangers a commanding lead as time was running out. The Rangers ultimately won the game 3-1 and Avery was greeted by his coach and his teammates.

“What I liked about his game is that he let his game do the talking, and I think that’s very important,” coach John Torteralla said of Sean, who also said, “Sean needs to realize he’s a really good player and let his game speak for itself.”

Dury, Dubinsky and Lundqvist also praised Sean for his play at a desperate point in the season. Sean and the Blue Shirts will have to continue their solid game against the Montreal Canadians on Tuesday night. A team that is ahead of them in the standings and with only 13 games to play, this is an almost must win for the team.
