Modern Man and Technology – The Interdependence of Human Beings and Technology?

Posted by admin

The term ‘global village’ has been coined to aptly describe what technology (and information) has done to the world today. The manifestations of technology are too numerous to mention. Right now, we all breathe, eat, sleep, think, and dream about technology. It has been thoroughly infused into our conscious selves as well as our subconscious. The endless stream of information it provides has illuminated our lives beyond comprehension. An attempt to understand the technology leads to various puzzles and riddles. Simply put, most of the breakthroughs in technology are astounding and beyond comprehension. An objective analysis of technology can be difficult due to individual differences. However, there has to be an attempt to answer this question. The million dollar question on everyone’s mind. How has technology affected modern man?

Without beating around the bush and avoiding subjectivity, it seems fair to say that it has improved lives forever. The advent of cell phones has made communication easier, to say the least. They have also advanced the world of business for several hundred years. One can also choose to examine the contribution of technology to health, transport, education and all other crucial sectors. There is no disputing the fact that we all live better, feel more comfortable with ourselves, and are better equipped with information. These are the strengths of the technology, and obviously too good to ignore. It can be said that the Internet is the greatest technological innovation. Surprisingly, it is the most controversial. However, what the Internet has achieved is remarkable. It has brought billions of people closer to a click of themselves. The exchange of information occurs in fractions of a second with the help of the Internet. Why this amazing invention generates so much controversy is anyone’s guess.

It has become evident that technology is here to stay. The question of its acceptability is non-existent because it seems that no one can do without it. The best way to see it is from the point of view of a double-edged sword. Although we accept that calculators, for example, are very helpful and have taken the human mind to greater distances than can be imagined, it would be fair to say that they have made us all lazy. Despite all the good we can get from the Internet, its open access to all kinds and forms of information has made the world a very dangerous place to live. You have exposed teenagers to issues far beyond their age and understanding. The effect of this on society is obviously negative. To close everything, each individual must try to understand what technology means. One must resolve the use of his discoveries which are good and positive. Make use of the ones that are useful to you and discard the rest. Pick the grains and throw away the chaff.
