Leaders must learn and know that only Almighty God can deliver man from the dangers we face

Posted by admin

What are the various lessons that leaders can take and learn from this Chapter in the lives of prominent people in the nation?

We are told to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, but there is only one person in the Bible who is said to have loved someone as he loved himself, and that is Jonathan! Jonathan was the son of King Saul and befriended David, who had been anointed to become king of Israel.

Saul was determined to get young David off the scene and there was a conspiracy to begin with and this conspiracy to kill David was clandestine at first and then it all came out.

Jonathan tells David what is being said about how plans are afoot for David to deal with him, and Jonathan defends David to his father.

David was not a threat but a servant of King Saul who should be highly valued.

He conquered his father and David was reinstated at court and in the army, but he did not last long. We read all the details of this in the first book of Samuel and in Chapter 19. Please read it, as there are many profound lessons to be learned.

The situation becomes even more complex as the exciting narrative unfolds. Almighty God will have his chosen man to be King of his chosen people.

What are you going to do when loyalty to a friend requires you to speak out against the king, or your father, or your boss?

Michal, the daughter of King Saul, and now the beloved wife of David, tried to protect her husband, and that is understandable.

Jesus entered this debate unequivocally when he said that if you love father and mother more than me, you could not be my disciple, and we read that in the Gospel of Matthew in chapter 10.

There is a hunger in man to have that luxury of being able to trust people, because we know that they make and keep their promises.

David had a dream start to his public career, with repeated military successes and no failures. David enjoyed a certain degree of celebrity status throughout the country. He was joined in marriage to the king’s daughter, and from there came this close and pure friendship with Jonathan, the king’s son.

David handled it all with amazing modesty.

Suddenly, though, David was an outlaw and a fugitive, with no food and no guns. He was being persecuted by King Saul and his men. Sin was causing chaos in David’s anointed life.

Why did all this happen? Saul’s priorities were all wrong. Saul’s approach was completely wrong. When our priorities and focus are wrong, dire consequences follow.

When we are so aware of the turmoil and problems that exist in our world today, when will people turn to Almighty God through Jesus Christ and correct their priorities and readjust their focus?

God is waiting for man to turn to Him in repentance and faith!

Power is meaningless where there is more harm than help.

Power is meaningless where there is more damage than healing.

Power is meaningless when it causes such hostility and destruction.

David discovered that innocence and friendship will not get you out of danger.

Love will not free you from danger.

Only God saves David from danger. Only Almighty God can deliver us from danger, whether it be in the area of economics or finance or ethics and morality and spiritual truth.
