Is Internet Pornography the Reason for Teen Sexual Abuse?

Reason for Teen Sexual Abuse

The recent explosion of pornography online has caused a big stir in the world of sex and porn addiction, especially in the realm of xd. Porn addiction affects millions of people around the world, especially in the United States. In fact, it is estimated that at any given point in time, somewhere between two and three percent of the American population is addicted to porn. In addition, many people who are not necessarily porn addicts are unaware of its existence or how to treat it. As such, they become easy targets for scam artist and abusive people seeking only sexual satisfaction from others. This is why it is so important that we all educate ourselves on this growing problem before it destroys our society and destroys the lives of those who are vulnerable.

For those who may not be familiar with the term, “xd” stands for “adult video”. That is, if you are looking at something that depicts (indecently) people engaging in explicit sexual acts, then it is porn, even if it is meant to be non-consensual. Now many people would argue that pornography is harmless – that the damage it can cause is limited to the viewer. However, there are those among us who do see pornography for what it really is: a form of aggressive behavior used to satisfy someone’s sexual appetite.

When a porn addict uses porn, he or she becomes fixated on the act of sex without considering the negative effects it can have on one’s own psyche. This is because a porn user tends to focus on the visual pleasure that he or she receives from the act, rather than on the negative effects. To add to this problem, there are also some porn users who do not seem aware of how much they are actually consuming while they are indulging in their pornography addictions. This is a serious issue that must be addressed if we are to protect our children from exposure to pornographic materials that could negatively affect them.

Unfortunately, many people have turned to pornography as a means of escape from emotional and/or physical pain. Some others use porn as a means of avoiding or masking feelings of shame, guilt or other types of negative emotions. With the advent of online porn, those with emotional issues can easily slip into their own personal ” pornography universe” and escape from reality. With this said, it is imperative that we as parents make sure our children are not exposed to porn as well. This way, they will not fall victim to the harmful influences of porn, including its negative effect on the development of the mind and body.

Sadly, many parents have failed to realize the dangers of porn, especially among teenagers, and have simply responded to the demands of the market by permitting their children to access internet pornography websites. This has been a major contributing factor to the rise of sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhea and HIV/AIDS. The Catholic Church once frowned upon pornography, but the influence of religion over pornography in recent years has allowed people to disregard the truth about porn.

Many times, the problem lies with the parents, not the children. Parents must learn to take control of their home’s computer usage, especially when their children are involved. This means that all electronics, including laptops, cell phones and computers should be used in the presence of adults only. It also means that internet usage in the presence of children should be supervised and that adult family members who wish to view porn websites must first explain the situation to the children. Unfortunately, many people fail to realize that they can easily present a legitimate reason for parental supervision, such as concerns regarding pornography.
