Golf Swing Tips: Single Plane Swing Basics

Posted by admin

The Single Plane Swing is an easy way to hit a ball to your target and increase your enjoyment while playing golf. Years of teaching experience have shown me easier ways to communicate this simple swing method, a swing method brilliantly devised by Moe Norman, a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, regularly called the best ball hitter in the world. (by Tiger Woods, Lee TreviƱo and other game greats).

To hit the ball consistently, you need to control three things:

    1. Clubface aim at impact 2. Clubhead trajectory through impact 3. Power output without disturbing numbers 1 or 2

Natural Golf offers you an easy way to control all three.

Fundamental #1 – The natural hold

To control where the clubface points at impact, we hold the club so that our forearms are in line with the shaft of the club.

This alignment emulates dynamic alignment at impact, meaning the clubface will square more consistently in the direction you hit. That way, you only have one thing to focus on when playing golf: the path of the clubhead through impact.

Fundamental #2 – The Single Plane Configuration

To control the direction in which the clubhead swings (trajectory), we position the ball with the forearms aligned in plane with the shaft of the club and the upper arms above (on top of) the chest. This way, your arms are free to control the direction of the clubhead and torso rotation is minimized, allowing you to swing back and forth in virtually the same path or in a single plane.

From here you simply aim and drive the ball to your target!

Fundamental #3 – Drive the ball to your target

We drive the ball with a stick the same way we drive a nail with a hammer, using leverage as a power source. Leverage is gained by allowing the wrists to function as a hinge so that we can release the weight of the clubhead in the direction we want to drive the ball, primarily driven by simple independent arm action.

The advantage of the Natural Golf Single Plane Swing is that you can completely release the force of the clubhead past your body (as seen in these Moe Norman images) without the need for twisting or twisting. That’s because our setup places you in the direction you’ll most naturally return to during swing impact, with your arms aligned in the same plane as the shaft of the club. Your body stabilizes as you release the power of the lever in the clubhead through impact. Then just follow the momentum of the clubhead, turning into a balanced, stress-free finish.

So there you have it – With Natural Golf you can…

o Control where the clubface points at impact using the natural grip o Control the path of the clubhead using the single plane setup o Control the speed of the clubhead using the stress-free power source of leverage to drive the ball towards its target.

If you haven’t already, give it a try!
