Building Your Own Golf Cart Back Seat

Posted by admin

A typical golf cart is available in two or four seats or it may have a luggage rack in the rear for transporting it. To transport more than two people, an additional seat can be added. Items to do this can be obtained from a home improvement store.

The dimensions of the front seat should be measured and marked on a piece of plywood. Safety glasses should be worn and it will be better to use a circular saw for cutting.

Cut a piece of vinyl with scissors with a three-inch excess on all sides than the plywood.

Next, a three-inch thick piece of foam is cut to the same dimension as the plywood. A spray adhesive is applied to the plywood and the foam is applied. The adhesive must dry completely.

Lay the vinyl inside side up on the floor. In the middle of the vinyl, lay the plywood with the foam against it. Pull the vinyl and staple it tightly around the plywood one side at a time.

Measure the length from the top rail to the rear bumper. Then add the measurement from that point to the bumper. To wear a face shield, use a right angle grinder to cut two two-inch square metal tubes that length to support the rear seat. Cut a two-inch square tube lengthwise between the rear roof stabilizer bars to stabilize the rear seat support bars.

At the point, the seats and supports are angled 90 degrees with bumpers, marking points. Use a table vise to hold the pipe and apply slow heat to the mark with a propane torch to bend it at a 90 degree angle with a square. The other pipe is also made in a similar way.

The first angled tube is clamped in the direction between the rear roof stabilizer bar and the rear bumper. Using a 1/4-inch drill bit, drill through the roof stabilizer bar and pipe. Fix the tube on the stabilizer bar with bolts. In the same way do the same with the other. Attach the stabilizer bar to the two rear seat support bars at the top, spaced two inches from the bend in the pipe using the drill.

The seat is secured to the support with two high-strength elastic straps.
